Abstract:
Pivotal Labs is a consulting company with early ties to the agile community. In this talk we will walk through the strong engineering culture which has made the team successful as well as look at how things have evolved over the past 20 years. We'll dive deep into the life-cycle of a developer starting with recruiting through their career progression to management or technical leadership.
Josh is an accomplished software developer, trainer and consultant with over 15 years of professional development experience. Currently the VP of Engineering for the Atlantic region of Pivotal Labs Josh spends his days consulting with both early stage startups, as well as large international organizations. In addition to his work at Pivotal he is the co-organizer of nyc.rb, the New York Ruby Group, as well as an organizer of the Gotham Ruby Conference. Prior to Pivotal he worked for a variety of startup organizations. Most recently he was the Director of Engineering for Gilt Groupe, one of the fastest growing startups in NYC. He brings with him a strong background in Agile Development practices as well as a passion for Open Source development.
