Workshop: Java 9: Are You Ready?

- Java 8 JDK
- Java 9 Early Access Release JDK installed from http://jdk.java.net/9/
- Java 9 capable IDE we recommend IntelliJ 2017.1.4 community edition or ultimate edition. IDE's are still building Java 9 support the instructor will be using IntelliJ 2017.4 we recommend you have the same version installed to make things easier to follow. However, you are welcome to install your favorite Java 9 capable IDE.
Java 9 is soon to be released with loads of exciting new features. To celebrate the release, bring your laptop and learn all these new features through hands-on coding exercises.
We'll cover things like the new modularity features coming with Java 9. Expect hands-on exercises creating your own modules, integrate existing code with module libraries, and making your modules work with "legacy" unmodularized code.
By the end of the day, we promise that you will have written some Java 9 code be ready to tackle Jigsaw. The tutorial rapidly alternates between lecture style presentation and hands-on coding exercises.
